目前主要采用膨脹率和半衰期2個指標對瀝青發泡特性進行評價。膨脹率是指瀝青發泡膨脹時達到的體積與泡沫完全消失時的體積之比，反映泡沫瀝青的粘度大小。半衰期是指泡沫瀝青從體積降到體積的一半需要的時間，瀝青路面冷再生機，以s計，反映泡沫瀝青的穩定性。評價瀝青發泡效果時，膨脹率和半衰期是兩個密不可分的指標，的發泡效果應使兩個值均比較大，而不能單獨采用一個指標來控制。建議發泡瀝青的膨脹率≥10倍，半衰期≥8 s
